Paris Golf Carts

Wednesday, 1 March 2017

Starting today if you're registered through the Paris Police Department you can drive golf carts on several streets throughout town. Resident Charlie Brown said he's excited to put his one of a kind golf cart to use, not only as a hobby but to drive around with grandson. Brown said the golf cart is a 1970 model Cushman. The original owner was W.D. Campbell who also owned Campbell's Soup. He said the cart was passed down to him from another Paris resident who had it. Brown says it's an honor to have the golf cart. Paris Police say all golf carts must be registered through the police department and residents must apply for a permit and cart inspection. Golf carts are not allowed on Jefferson Avenue, Central Street, Main Street and High Street. But they say golf carts should be treated like other vehicles and the DUI laws are just the same as a car.
