Boilermakers Outlast Illini

Wednesday, 18 January 2017

The University of Illinois just couldn't catch a break against number 21 Purdue. The Boilermakers hosted Illinois last night, and had a dominant performance on their home court. Purdue had an early seven-point lead after Carson Edwards was left wide open to sink the three. llinois' Maverick Morgan tries to keep the gap small with the lay-in, but Edwards kept up the momentum coming back to nail a midrange jumper. Purdue center Isaac Haas wrapped up the half with a lay-in putting the boilermakers up 20 points. Illini's Malcolm Hill starts the second with a huge block, but this wasn't enough to stop Purdue's forward Caleb Swanigan. Swanigan dominated the second half with lay ups, foul points, and a hook shot which led to a Purdue victory 91-68.
