Officer Involved Shooting in Urbana

Update: 

The Champaign County sheriff's department makes an arrest in an officer involved shooting.

Police say 21-year-old Kelvin Hartfield is facing armed robbery and attempted first degree murder charges.

They say Hartfield was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop on University Avenue.

Authorities say Hartfield shot at deputies on July 26th in Woodland Acres trailer park.

Hartfield is also accused of robbing the Shell Gas Station on North Cunningham in Urbana.

Police are also looking for 23-year-old Kydel Brown to question about the armed robbery.

An investigation into an officer involved shooting is underway in Urbana.

The Champaign County sheriff's department says early Tuesday morning, deputies were called to the Woodland Acres Trailer Park on University Avenue.

Officers say in the area of 64 Michelle Lane deputies noticed a male suspect walking around a parked car.

They say when officers approached the man, he displayed a weapon and fired multiple shots at deputies before fleeing.

Deputies returned fire and pursued the suspect briefly.

Police say the suspect is in his early 20's with a flat top style haircut.

They say, at the time, he was not wearing a shirt but a silver chain, red boxers and black pants.

No deputies were injured.

The sheriff's department says three deputies fired shots at the fleeing suspect.

They say there's no indication the suspect was injured.

The investigation into this matter continues with the assistance of the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit.
