Wivinis Signs with the Evansville Otters

Former Eastern Illinois pitcher Matt Wivinis plans to continue his baseball career by playing with the Evansville Otters, a member of the Independent Frontier League.

Wivinis pitched the last two seasons at Eeastern after beginning his career at Kansas State.  

During his two years with the Panthers, he was both a starter and reliever with six wins and one save in 31 career appearances.

As a senior this past season he became one of EIU's weekend starters pitching 88.2 innings in 13 starts with one complete game.  

He posted 128 career strike outs with 79 coming this season as he led the Panthers and ranked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Wivinis started this summer pitching for the Danville Dans of the Collegiate Prospect League, but shortly after was given a professional contract offer.

The Evansville Otters play as a member of the Frontier League which includes 12 teams based in the Midwest.  
Evansville is currently second in the West Division behind the Southern Illinois Miners.
