Urbana School Fingerprinting Policy

Thursday, 8 October 2015

Urbana school officials change a hiring policy.

The district is updating the way they conduct volunteer background checks.

School officials say they'll no longer conduct fingerprint checks for student tutors or supervised volunteers.

The district says they'll now conduct those checks exclusively online.

They say the move, which other schools are using, will save $13,000 dollars this year.

The district says new employees and volunteers who'll have unsupervised contact with students, will still go through the fingerprint process.
