Thursday, 16 July 2015

University of Illinois baseball coach Dan Hartleb is given a raise and a five-year contract extension for leading his team to an NCAA regional championship.

The school says Hartleb's contract has been extended through 2020, pending university trustees' approval.

University spokeswoman Robin Kaler says the raise would increase Hartleb's pay to $290,000 a year.

He now makes $155,000.

Kaler says Hartleb would be paid another $100,000 if he stays the full five years.

The Illini finished 2015 with a school-best 50-10-1 record.

They lost to Vanderbilt in the NCAA super regionals.

In his 10th season as head coach Hartleb was named Big Ten coach of the year.
