Spring Planting Reminders

Thursday, 11 April 2013

Have you been been on the roads lately? It's not just vehicles we're sharing lanes with these days. The planting season is underway, and that means farmers are firing up the implements and traveling local roads to get to and from their fields. Coles County sheriff Darrell Cox says drivers should keep a safe distance from the farm machinery, allow enough room to pass and always look for turning traffic. He says just because the farm vehicle pulls to the right side of the road doesn't mean that's the direction the farmer plans to turn. Bill Uphoff, co-owner of Uphoff farms, drives frequently on the road in his farm implements this time of year and says navigating around the county can be a struggle.
