Musician Wants Order of Protection Against Champaign Mayor

Wednesday, 10 April 2013

A Champaign musician is asking a judge for an order of protection against the city's mayor after a public disagreement.

It's the second time since last fall that someone has sought court protection from Champaign Mayor Don Gerard.

Musician Jim Bean is seeking the order after an argument between the two men at a public event Saturday.

Gerard claims the musician has harassed his daughter.

Bean denies that.

A police report merely says the two made accusations against each other.

A former girlfriend of Gerard last fall accused him of threatening to have the city take legal action against her after they broke up.

Laura Huth is still waiting for a judge to decide whether to grant her court protection.

Gerard has denied those accusations.
