Eastern Illinois University's Men's and Women's Basketball teams earned the 2012-2013 Ohio Valley Conference Team Sportmanship Award.
The award is for the best team in the OVC that exhibited the standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
Commissioner for the OVC, Beth DeBauche, said “[T]he recipients of the OVC Team Sportsmanship awards should accept this award with great pride for their fellow competitors have made it clear their teams exemplify the best in intercollegiate athletics."
This is the 8th year the sportsmanship honor has been awarded, the first for the EIU basketball program."
The Men's Baseketball team finished the season 6-10 in the OVC with the Women ending theirs 20-12 and earned their first postseason win in a national tournament.
