Edgar Co Jail Needs Significant Repairs

Thursday, 4 April 2013

A county jail is deciding what to do with its inmates after being referred to the state attorney general for failing inspections.

Edgar County Sheriff Ed Motley says the facility didn't meet jail standards because the building is out of date, and the county is out of funds to make repairs.

He says he may have to move inmates elsewhere which will cost the county $350,000 a year.

Motley says he plans to meet with an architectural firm to determine the cost of repairs.
