Martinsville Marathon Pipeline Explosion

Monday, 1 April 2013

Fire departments from both Casey and Martinsville responded to the tank field just west of Martinsville. Marathon officials say the explosion did not affect any other structures or homes in the area, nor did it stop other facility operations. Casey fire chief Jason Graver was among one of the first responders that arrived on scene. Garver says the fire was easy to contain and was controlled within ten minutes of arriving to the scene. Officials say they aren't sure how explosion started, but Marathon has launched an investigation. Two Marathon workers were hurt in the accident, but the company tells us those injuries aren't serious. The workers' names aren't being released at this time because of legal reasons. The explosion remains under investigation.
