A historic auditorium will stay standing for a little while longer.
The Shelbyville City Council decided Monday night to stop seeking bids to tear down the Chautauqua building.
City Clerk Carrie Jones says residents showed quite a bit of interest to continue fundraising with the hopes of making repairs to stabalize the building.
Right now, the city is waiting for information from a structural engineer to see what repairs really need to be made and how much they will cost.
