Illinois Teacher Cuts

Wednesday, 27 March 2013

Teaching was once a job that many thought would be safe from budget cuts, but now schools statewide are making some critical reductions. Now some Eastern students say they're worried about their future career, and wonder if they'll even get a job after graduation day. Eastern is ranked as one of the top teacher preparation programs in the state. Now several schools in our viewing area including Casey, Sullivan, Neoga, Hutsonville, and Decatur have all cut teachers and staff next school year. Some have also looked at increasing fees and cutting coaches.
