Marshall Active Shooter Training

Monday, 25 March 2013

Training has always been part of a police officer's job, but school shootings like the one in Newtown, Connecticut has made some training a bit more urgent. Today police went to Marshall Junior High School to learn how to hangle an active shooter situation. News Watch's Margaret Langevin witnessed the drills and she joins us live in studio. 15 police officers from about six different agencies came to Marshall today to prepare themselves for any threats against students' safety. We should tell our viewers no students were in the building during the training, Marshall schools are on spring break. Several of the officers that participated in today's drill also took part in another active shooter simulation at Casey high school last January. Coordinators of the event say more drills are planned in the future.
