A Chicago man accused of causing a fatal accident near Mattoon has pleaded not guilty.
25-year-old Michael Fogarty is charged with aggravated driving under the influence after authorities say he caused a four vehicle accident near Lerna Road.
They say Fogarty was driving west on Illinois Route 16 when he failed to reduce speed and ran into a vehicle driven by Rosemary Ryan.
Police say Ryan's car ran into two others.
Nine people were injured and one was killed.
Fogarty's next court appearance is set for May 2nd.
