Last call will come a little later in Charleston! The extra hour of business is only a temporary measure for bars in Charleston. But city officials say it's a step toward making a safer commute home for patrons, as well as lowering the amount of late-night house parties. Over the next six months, local officials will be on the look out for a change in those issues. News Watch spoke with the owner of Friends and Company, Mike Gherardini, who hopes the extra hour will mean a little extra revenue for his bar. In addition to the later hours, all bar employees are required to go through special training to check I.D.'s more thoroughly, and to know when to quit serving an intoxicated patron. Package liquor sales within the city will still end at 1 a.m.
