Rise In Heroin Use

Monday, 27 October 2014

Police say more and more people are getting hooked on heroin. While drug enforcement officials say methamphetamine is still the number one drug of choice in central Illinois, police are seeing more and more cases of heroin use. Edgar County Sheriff Ed Motley says the drug doesn't discriminate, people of all races and ages are using. The Illinois Drug Task Force says another reason why more people are using heroin is the price. Nationally, the Centers for Disease Control say nearly four thousand people died from heroin overdoses in 2012.
