U of I Starts Farmland Finance Center

Friday, 8 March 2013

A local university is creating a new center to study financial aspects of farmland.

University of Illinois Trustees voted Thursday to create the TIAA-CREF center.

TIAA-CREF is a financial services company that will spend $5 million over 3 years to pay for the new building.

Officials say once completed, the center is expected to sustain itself financially.

They say steadily rising prices have made farmland a great investment in recent years.
