EIU Introduces Tom Michael As New Director of Intercollegiate Athletics


Eastern Illinois introduced Michael in a press conference Tuesday, making the former University of Illinois Athletic Director the 10th full-time AD in EIU history.

Eastern Vice President of Student Affairs, Dan Nadler, spoke highly of Michael during the press conference.

"He is a well-rounded athletic administrator who brings experience as both a former Division I athlete and administrator that will benefit EIU Athletics," Nadler Said.

"Over the course of the phone and on-campus interviews you could see that Tom is someone that will be totally committed to the academic and athletic development of EIU's student-athletes."

Michael spent 12 years as an administrator for Illinois athletics, including the last two as the Senior Athletic Director.


Football Media Day and Kid's Clinic Set For Aug. 2


Interviews start at 1 p.m. followed by an autograph session and kid's clinic.

All events will take place at O'Brien Field in Charleston, Illinois and are free to the public.

Eastern Illinois football kicks off their season on Aug. 28 when they take on Minnesota at TCF Bank Stadium.


EIU Announces Partnership With Adidas


The Panthers have reached an agreement with the popular sporting brand on a five-year deal, providing all Eastern athletic programs with Adidas gear through the 2019 season.

Director of Team Sports for Adidas America, Mark Daniels, says he is excited to bring the Adidas brand to Eastern Illinois.

"Everything we do at adidas is about helping athletes perform better, and we're excited to bring that mentality to Eastern Illinois University over the next five years," Daniels said.

"We're outfitting all men's and women's teams in our latest and most innovative footwear, apparel and uniforms so the Panthers can continue to compete at their highest level."
