Some Illinois lawmakers say put out the cigarette!

State Senator Ira Silverstein is introducing legislation in Springfield that would make it illegal for drivers to smoke in cars with kids.

Silverstein says second hand smoke in such a confined area poses a health danger to children.

Police can't pull over a driver for ONLY that offense, but if pulled over for another reason and found smoking with kids in the car violators would be fined a maximum of $100.
