The University of Illinois is considering a policy change making background checks for new hires mandatory.
The University's Associate Vice President for Human Resources, Maureen Parks, briefed the Board of Trustees last week on the possible changes.
Parks' proposal would require all new hires to undergo a background check.
The current policy requires background checks only for staff working with minors and other positions deemed sensitive.
