IL Senate Votes to Legalize Gay Marriage

Thursday, 14 February 2013

The Illinois Senate has voted to lift a state ban on same-sex marriage.

Thursday's 34-21 vote sends the bill to the House, where Democrats also hold a majority.

Governor Pat Quinn says he will sign the bill if the House approves it.

That would make Illinois the 10th state in the nation allowing same-sex couples to wed.
