Mattoon Shooting Arrest

After a three week long investigation, the Mattoon police have put a close to last month's series of shootings into Mattoon homes. Mattoon resident, Kevin Morlan, was arrested on Monday evening and was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine. Matton Chief of Police Jeff Branson said the arrest was part of a combined effort from any local agenices. He also said that the residents of Mattoon were an immense part of Morlan's arrest and because of that they confident that the right man is behind bars. Morlan was also wanted on warrants out of Cumberland county for driving under the influence and Coles County for assault charges. He previously served time for battery, obstruction of justice and receiving stolen property. As of now, he is being held at the Coles County Jail.
