An art professor at a local university is receiving some recognition as the 2013 Illinois Professor of the Year.
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education recognized Eastern Illinois University's Jeffrey Boshart as the most outstanding undergraduate instructor in the country.
The award recognizes professors who excel in teaching and positiviely influence the lives and careers of students.
Boshart was selected from more than 350 top professors in the United States.
He's been an instructor in the EIU Art Department since 1988.
