Casey School Cuts

Tuesday, 29 January 2013

The Casey Westfield School District will be temporarily closing Roosevelt Jr. High School. The decision was made Monday evening at the school board meeting. Casey Schools Superintendent Dee Scott says the closing is a result of state funding problems. Scott says closing Roosevelt will save the district about $250,000 dollars. Plans are to use Roosevelt's gym and other facilities as a community center and a place for after school activities. The district is also looking into eliminating sports contests that require travel more than fifty miles and suggesting some coaches work on a volunteer basis.
