Officials want us to know lakes aren't the only place affected by bacteria.
Illinois authorities are warning residents of recently flooded areas to beware of flood water health dangers.
Officials say the contaminated waters can contain fecal matter and other disease causing organisms.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says it's also important to avoid skin contact with flood water especially for cuts and sores.
