Some local libraries are among hundreds in the state receiving some substantial grant money.

Secretary of State Jesse White says the money will be used for materials, personnel, equipment, electronic access, telecommunications and technology.

Locally, several libraries received money, including Mattoon and Charleston.

Library officials say the process to receive this grant involves an application and a marketing plan as well as several other time-consuming steps.

But the work is nothing compared to the benefit.
