The crew visits several attractions in and around Dana, Indiana. First, the Brown Barn General Store near Chrisman, Illinois features good food and on occasion live music! Then the crew goes to Brooke’s Candy Company in downtown Dana where a mother/daughter duo cook up treats that’ll make you wish you had taste-o-vision! Finally, just down the street from Brooke’s is the Ernie Pyle State Historic Site where we’ll learn more about the World War II journalist known for his personal style of storytelling.

This week we travel to several different types of farms. The 200 Acres in Arthur farms cucurbits, or things of the pumpkin and squash variety in layman’s terms. This show marks the 100th episode of Heartland Highways. A look back at some of our favorite shows will be included, along with an interview with host Lori Casey all about how the show came to be what it is and some of her favorite moments. In this episode we’ll visit Eastern Illinois University’s Booth Library where an impressive collection of postcards, now digital, are housed. Next, we’ll meet acoustic guitar maker Tom Foreman from Stewardson. Although he claims he doesn’t play guitar very well, he sure makes some beautiful music when it comes to his craftsmanship. Finally, we’ll tour Clay City Pottery in Clay City, Indiana, where stoneware pottery has been made by the same family for more than a century.

Season 8 closes out with a show featuring different types of performances. Myers Dinner Theatre in Hillsboro, Indiana, makes viewers a part of their family. We promise some good food, a good show, and good family fun here. Then Lori and Kate take a swing on the trapeze when the visit the Gamma Phi Circus at Illinois State University in Normal. This circus has a history as long as their list of different acts. And finally we’ll meet the Central Illinois English Country Dancers who will teach us how to do a dance from centuries ago.
